Mercedes-Benz have focused throughout their history on the quality and design of their vehicles. Let's get to know a bit of their history and some of the most popular models of the brand, in case you are interested in buying a second-hand Mercedes.
The "Mercedes-Benz" brand was born from the manufacturer Daimler, from a dealer who used his daughter's name "Mercedes" to write down the vehicles he received, and from the union with Benz & Cie, a rival company. The famous 3-star logo was first used in 1937 and is said to symbolise the construction of engines that are used by land, sea and air.
Mercedes AMG
Within Mercedes-Benz vehicles we find the "AMG" variety. This stands for "Aufrecht, Melcher, Großaspach" or, in other words, the surnames of the founders of AMG, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, as well as the birthplace of the first one, Großaspach. These engineers were involved in the development of racing engines and founded a highly successful company which would eventually be taken over by Daimler in 1999. It would be used to market Mercedes-Benz vehicles with high performance and greater attention to detail under the acronym "AMG"; this also means a higher price, but fortunately we can also find second-hand offers on Mercedes AMG models.
Among the most requested models of Mercedes are:
Mercedes-Benz A-Class
The Mercedes A-Class is an entry-level model, a premium compact with attractive lines and a pleasant driving experience.
If you're looking for a car that's comfortable to drive, with a high-quality digital entertainment system and a luxurious interior, this may be the car for you. It stands out above all for its infotainment system and especially comfortable seats that envelop you when you sit down, but which are even better in the AMG version.
Among the most popular diesel versions on offer is the 180D, with a 1.5-litre engine and 116 hp. If you prefer a petrol engine, you might be interested in the A180, which is attractive enough with its 1.3-litre engine and 136 hp. There is also the A200 for those who want a little more power with 163 hp, the CLA 250 with a 2.0-litre engine and 224 hp or the A250E, Mercedes' plug-in hybrid version with a 1.3-litre petrol engine. As you can see, there's one to suit all tastes, but if you don't want to spend too much, it's best to opt for a second-hand car.
Other alternatives in the same range would be the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3, which you can also check out on our website or by visiting us.
Mercedes-Benz CLA
Mercedes CLA is a stylish coupe with an elegant design and a luxurious interior that stands out for its infotainment system and sharp lines. Are you interested in buying a used Mercedes CLA? It's quite a popular car, so finding a used one shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Inside, the first thing that immediately catches the eye is the comfort, luxurious equipment and standard safety equipment. Without being a very large car, it has plenty of space inside and is without a doubt a suitable model for those looking for a beautiful, high quality, designer car. Sport seats are very comfortable as standard and the driving position is excellent, while rear-view cameras, parking sensors and a system that will automatically manoeuvre the car into parallel parking are also fitted as standard.
The digital instrument panel is combined with the infotainment screen; a screen of just over 10 inches as standard, making it one of the largest. The steering wheel has a multitude of functions; so many that sometimes we may not be able to remember what each button is for, but with practice we're sure we can get used to them. Depending on the version you choose, the instrument panel may be the same size as the main screen or slightly smaller.
As for price, new cars can be found from €28,000 to €73,000 for the top of the range; if you're looking for a hybrid, the price starts at €41,000.
Alternatives to the Mercedes CLA could be the Volkswagen Arteon or the Audi A5 Sportback which offer a slightly sportier drive, although this car is slightly smaller in size and also less expensive.
Mercedes-Benz GLA
The GLA model is descended from the A-Class, but adapted to be a crossover vehicle that can be used in all kinds of situations, with an SUV-like appearance.
There are petrol and diesel versions, ranging from 136hp to 224hp, with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. Standard equipment, depending on the year, may include reversing camera, Thermotronic automatic climate control, LED headlights, 18" alloy wheels. If it is a 4MATIC automatic, there are other extras that come as standard and are geared towards off-road driving.
If we look at 2017 or 2018 versions, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA 180, then we get a 1595cc petrol engine with 122hp. Its standard equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity, hill start assist, fatigue warning system and ECO stop-start function among others. The AMG version adds sportier steering, perforated brake discs, lowered ride height, heated front seats with lumbar support, sports pedals and other exclusive extras.
Its top speed is 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 9 seconds.
Standard Mercedes GLA details:

Fuel tank: 43 litres.
Combined fuel consumption: 1.6 - 9.2 l/100 km.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The Mercedes E-Class is one of the best built cars in its segment. It is close to the S-Class in terms of space, quality, technology and cabin comfort.
The driving position is ideal and provides a wide view of the road, and rear parking sensors are standard on all versions. The interior materials are of very good quality and the boot is one of the largest at 540 litres.
Air Body Control suspension is optional and Agility Control is standard with different driving modes including ECO, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. It is rear-wheel drive, which gives it great manoeuvrability in situations where there is a loss of grip, and there is a wide choice of engines. It comes in diesel, petrol and plug-in hybrid, so it's easy to find a version to suit your preferences.
It's a very quiet car, you'll barely feel the engine or the wind when you drive it. If you like to hear the engine roar, you'll want to try one of the AMG versions, the E63's V8 engine will be a real treat, but the price for a new one might not be so great; to save a few euros it's best to check availability on the second-hand market.
Among its main competitors would be the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series.

Mercedes Vito
The Mercedes Vito is the brand's passenger vehicle with large capacity par excellence. Inside, there is ample space combined with great comfort, which gives the user a pleasant feeling while driving it.
The standard equipment that comes with the Mercedes Vito is very generous and we find some useful extras such as crosswind assistance, anti-tipper system, adaptive load control or hill start assistance. If you're looking for a vehicle with plenty of room to travel, this tends to be the most popular model with buyers. Although it's good value for money, it may be out of budget for some, in which case it's best to check the second-hand market for availability, and we can help you there.
The engine is very quiet and the cabin is well insulated from the outside. There is a basic 1.6-litre diesel option with 88 or 114 hp and front-wheel drive. There is also a 2.1-litre version with 136, 163 or 190 hp and rear-wheel drive, with an approximate fuel consumption of 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres. All engines come as standard with a manual gearbox, although a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission is available as an option.
With seating for up to nine people and luggage, this is a vehicle that invites you to adventure. Are you looking for a family car with plenty of room to travel? Do you play sport and need to transport large loads? This could be the vehicle you've been looking for.
Mercedes EQS
The future is already here with the Mercedes EQS, a car that will give a lot to talk about but will be within the reach of very few. It has been presented with many new features in 2021 and we are going to know some of them to get a closer view to this new car.
Mercedes EQS is like the S version but in electric, and with that we know that it is not a car for the general public, but for a select number of people who can afford it. This is an all-electric car that is already close to Tesla's range; with its 780 km of official range we can travel almost anywhere without worrying about recharging it every few kilometres.
This car falls into the range of super-luxury vehicles. Meticulous details, lots of digital display and a breathtaking interior, which will probably be accompanied by a starting price of more than 100,000 euros, although it is very likely to be close to 150,000 euros.
It measures 5.21 metres long, 1.92 metres wide and 1.51 metres high. It is capable of lowering its height when travelling over 120 kilometres per hour, something we won't theoretically experience on Spanish roads.
Standard equipment includes rotation of its rear wheels by up to 4.5 degrees, thus aiding handling. The rotation can be increased to 10 degrees with an annual subscription package, which has been controversial; but anyone who can afford this car will be happy to pay a little extra.
It's a good looking car, very aerodynamic and with a futuristic interior, with an optional screen that extends from the instrument panel to the passenger seat and can provide an augmented reality experience. Also as mentioned above, it will be able to receive and install upgrades to expand its functions, something on an optional basis.
Do you like the Mercedes EQS? We love it, we just need to know the price and wait for it to hit the second-hand market.
